Untitled-1Publix has been named one of the Most Important Private Companies by Fortune magazine, ranking No. 16 overall. This is the first year Fortune has published the list.

“Publix is unique because our people own the company,” said CEO & President Todd Jones. “From our front service clerks to our managers, each associate plays a critical part in our success.”

Fortune magazine’s list of the Most Important Private Companies was selected based on their significant revenues or assets, social involvement, deep connection to our daily lives and how they’re changing the business world around them. The list of 25 companies includes companies in a variety of industries. Publix is the only southeast-based company and the only supermarket on the list.

For additional information on the list, pick up a copy of the June issue of Fortune, or visit the online ranking.
