What Matters Most

Once a coworker gave me a piece of paper titled “What Matters Most”. On the paper was a picture of a little cat looking in a mirror. The funny thing was that the image reflected back was not of the little cat, but instead, a big lion!

The little cat saw himself big and strong; capable of doing great things. I imagine that as a result of seeing himself as such, he performed accordingly.

In Dr. Stephen Covey’s book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, he describes a “See – Do – Get” model. He suggests, “How we see ourselves, determines what we do, and what we do, determines our results.”

So when you look into the mirror, what is your reflection? Do you like what you see? And if you are not satisfied with results you experience in life, work, or relationships, perhaps, it’s time to change your perception of yourself and become the person you desire to be.

I’m so glad it is time for associate appreciation day. Glad I won’t get to meet this person cause once again my store manager expects the store to be perfect so he’s making us work all night. Please stop these visits to Birmingham. I don’t care would rather spend tome with my family.

I imagine it’s natural to want everything to look as good as possible when one of our leaders visits a store. I’m sorry it’s requiring more work for you. Thank you for helping Publix be the best looking stores around!

But I thought the point of these visit was for the “associates” you ppl at corp are the ones who said that. When in reality it’s about the store mangers get a pat on the back while the ones who really work, while manager sits in his office, are told to work long hours then told no overtime.
Since George has died corp has lost site of its associates they don’t “care” anymore. Look at the changes since his death. Sunday work is a big one how many more ppl can add to this list

Have you shared your concerns with the Retail Associate Relations Specialist in your area? His or her name is posted in your breakroom. They would welcome your feedback.
