Looking for stability? Look at Publix.



I’m grateful to be an external hire into Publix’s corporate office.  Why?  Because at previous employers, I saw it all.  If you’re like me – having been through cutbacks, closings, and layoffs – stability is a must-have in your next employer.  And when it comes to stability, Publix has it by the truckload.

Did you know that Publix has never had a layoff?  It’s true.  Since Mr. George opened our first store in 1930 – even during America’s most recent recession – we haven’t laid off a single associate.  What other large retailer can say that?

One of the biggest differences that sets Publix apart is what we affectionately refer to as our “secret sauce.”  What is that sauce, you ask?  Simple: Publix is an employee-owned company.  The largest in the nation, as a matter of fact.  That’s why layoffs just don’t make sense to us – it’s not who we are.  Publix is committed to treating us – associates, owners – with dignity and respect.  A refreshing commitment in this day and age.
