James served eight years in the U.S. Navy on a nuclear submarine. He came to Publix more than 15 years ago and is now part of our Education Training and Development as a Training Developer. And transitioning into a civilian career with Publix was a no-brainer for him.
“Publix is a great company that has tremendous respect for the military,” he explained. “They’ll make you feel right at home.” In fact, James met his wife Angela there.
Eager to find a great job in the civilian world after working in the U.S. Military?
“A lot of jobs in the Navy translate well to jobs here at Publix, especially in the Manufacturing and Distribution areas,” James said. “And there’s plenty of opportunity in Publix, when you consider our footprint.”
James is referring to Publix’s expansive operations in the Southeastern U.S. Publix has more than 1140 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South and North Carolina and Tennessee. In addition to career growth and opportunity, as the nation’s largest employee-owned company, Publix offers a culture not too different from that of the U.S. military. Here, there is an emphasis on structure, associate commitment and loyalty, training and discipline .
