For 13 years, we’ve shoehorned information into our Careers website in an attempt to answer all of your questions about working at Publix.
The result? An encyclopedia on why this is a great place to work and how to join the family.
The problem? Trying to find the exact piece of information you needed among the 200 pages on the site.
The solution? We’ve launched a new Careers website at http://www.publix.jobs/. The look is cleaner and simpler, so we hope you can find what you need more quickly.
The new site went live last week, but this is the first public announcement. We want to hear feedback first from our loyal followers of this blog, our Publix Careers Facebook page, our @PublixJobs Twitter account and our Publix LinkedIn page.
So please browse the new site and send your feedback to patti.breckenridge@publix.com with the subject line “New Site Feedback.” Let me know what you like, what you don’t like, and what we can add to the site to make it better.

Mrs. Breckenridge,
I currently work for Food Lion as a grocery department manager in Savannah, GA. What would I have to do do qualify for the PLM program?
Please send your resume to Debbie.White@Publix.com. She is our retail recruiter in the Jacksonville Division. She can help you. Thanks for thinking of Publix!

Hi feargus-
As my username implies, I was Grocery Manager for Food Lion at store 961 in Deltona, FL. As you know, we left the state back in 2011. After taking care of a terminally ill brother and liquidating his estate, I’m now actively looking at a career at Publix too. Back in 1977 I had an opportunity at both Publix and a chain here in Florida called Gooding’s Supermarkets. I chose Gooding’s. Twelve years later when I saw the writing on the wall at Gooding’s, I chose a newcomer to Florida.. Food Lion. If I could have a do-over, I’d go back to 1977 and choose Publix. I still hope to end my career there. 😉
Very impressed by the new webpage. The structure is clean, streamlined and very easy to navigate. You also managed to align the mission and values of the company throughout. Thumbs up!
Does Publix have an employee referral program in place?
Thank you for your feedback! We do not have a formal associate referral program for several reasons. First, because associates already make referrals in large numbers. Second, because our role model associates — our top performers — asked that we not spend any money on a referral program. All of us own the company, so as stockholders, they don’t want any resources to go there. They also believe the best referrals come from associates who refer because they care about the company rather than because they are rewarded.

Thank you for the insight!
You are most welcome.

Hi my name is heather I am looking for a job at public is there any opening for a bagger or a cart attendant. can you email. I been updating my applation. my email is zumwaldeh@yahoo.com
We don’t know which stores have openings since the Store Manager determines that each day. Please speak to a manager in the store where you applied and also in surrounding stores. Let them know why you would make a good employee. There is stiff competition for each opening, so you have to sell yourself to get noticed.

Hello, I really feel like when one goes to school for the first time, I work for Publix 8 years, in the area of the Bakery department, I have been baker, bakery clerk and decorator, but it’s time to make a change, I graduated in university of bachelor in business Administration Management in June 23,2011, I was afraid to leave Publix, because I don’t have any experience about my career …so I still continued until this day in the bakery department, but i said to me, no more is time for change…

What would be the best way to apply for a job at the Publix that will be opening in Huntersville, NC and in Cornelius, NC?? They both are set to open in late 2014. I currently have a full time job, but I really want to get my foot in the door at Publix before all the positions fill up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

My name is Erik Wills and I worked for Publix here in Jacksonville, Florida in2001. Back then, I was an overnight stocker working eisle three. My manager at the time informed me that I had to stay clean shaven to continue working for Publix. I was ok with that. As time went by, I started experiencing extreme facial breakouts and went and sought medical treament in which the doctor informed me to speak to a dermotologist. I did. He told me not to shave for a month and prescribed me with some cream to apply to my face daily. I informed the manager at the time, and he told me he needed to see a Dr. statement. I provided him with the necessary documents and he still fired me. Because of this incident, I think was black listed, and the manager at that time was very mean to me. I am desparately looking for work to take care of my family, and I was hoping if I can re-apply for a stock position in any publix. I no longer have any issues with my face and I am hard working and dependable family man. Can I please come back to work. Publix was the best place I ever worked and I truly miss the publix experience. Can I please re-apply and come back to work. -Erik Wills

I will have someone from our Personnel Records department call you about your eligibility. What phone number should they call?

I worked for Publix when I lived in Florida and i am very interested in working for Publix again. I live in Cary NC and was curious as to when they are starting to hire at that location. I have 20 years of retail experience and would love to restart my career with Publix. I would appreciate any information you could send my way. – Cherie Braun

I’m currently working as a PT cashier in the Nashville area. I’m wondering how you handle emergency management in your company, particularly weather management. What do you do if a hurricane is headed your way? What are the steps to mitigation or recovery? Do you have any positions related to this? That’s my first question.
I am trying to get into college for a meteorology degree, and would like to work in weather emergency management. But I also have extensive accounts payable experience that I can use now.
I’m trying to get a position in Corporate using my accounting experience, and maybe move into weather emergency management later.
What would you advise?
Connie:
First of all, thank you for your dedicated service to Publix.
Second, I don’t believe we have a single position dedicated to emergency management. We use cross functional teams here where we pull in expertise from all departments to address a topic. Sometimes those teams are at the officer level, for major emergencies. Sometimes they are at mid-manager leels, for smaller emergencies. I believe we use an outside meteorology consultant rather than hiring a meteorologist on staff.
Third, we definitely have lots of accounting positions and your experience in our stores will give you a leg up on outside candidates.
The accounting route is your safest bet.

I have 11 years experience in retail as a Senior Manager and am looking for a career change and am very interested in pursuing a career with Publix.
Do I apply at the store or can I forward my resume directly to the staffing specialist for my area?
Thank you!
Sandra
Sandra:
Thank you for your interest in Publix. As you may know, we almost never hire external candidates directly into a management position.
Please apply at the store and then go to speak with the Store Manager afterward to talk about your options.

Hello Ms. Patti. My name is Maurice Walton. I currently worked for Publix in 2006(7), roughly 7 years ago. I worked in the deli department for a while an d helped stock at times. I was terminated due to a honest mistake that i wasnt aware of that I was making. I shaved meat and would have the butt end of the meat left over and I would just throw it in the bag of meat after being weighed, because I knew it was getting thrown away, so I figured just give it to the customer in which ordered the original slices. I was not told not to do so, nor warned to stop, just called to the gm and terminated, as he put it, for theft. I went back to the deli to aquire my belongings and was informed that a younger gentlemen (whom did the same) went to the gm and told. I was pretty upset. I just had a baby, and was looking forward to a long career in the fortune five hundred. I was young, and didnt understand that what I was doing was wrong. Now I operate my own decorative concrete and mobile detailing companies in the Villages, Fl. They are both successful, but as outdoor and seasonal work, they are hard to have a stable income. One Publix just opened one mile from my home, and another is opening within ten miles in a short time. I would really like stability in my life, and I really love everything Publix has to offer. I would really like a career in Publix. After this long story, I am asking, could I be eligible for re-employment. I would like and overnight stocking position, but I am open to options if this is possible. I am honest and hard-working, I have to be in my line of work, and with a great reputation in this community to prove it. My email is mo_walt@yahoo.com. my phone number is 3524618445. And I will check back here for a reply. Thank you for your consideration and time.
Maurice

Ms. Breckenridge,
I hope you are having a great day, sorry to bother you. I have recently applied for a ISTS Support Technician position which I feel I would be a great fit. I am really enthused at the idea of working for Publix. The status of my application says “considering”. I would love the opportunity to work for such a great organization. What would you suggest me do now?
Thank you,
Corey
Feel free to email Rhonda.Burke@Publix.com. She is one of our IT Recruiters and may be able to help you.
Patti
Patti,
Thank you for the advice, The status of my application was changed to cancelled today, does that mean I am no longer being considered?
Thanks,
Corey
No. That means the position has been withdrawn.
Is there an application online or do you ave to go to the store?
To apply for a position in our stores, you need to apply at a Job Application Center kiosk. There is one in each Publix store.
Patti
Hello,
I applied for a graphic design job in Lakeland. Since then the job has been remove from search and my application show in considering. Please advise what I should do.
Thank you
Raymond
We receive several hundred applications for many of our corporate, distribution and manufacturing openings. Only a handful are invited to interview for each opening. You will be called if you are considered among the most qualified for an opening.
– Maura
I have recently applied for the job of Divisional Manager 11827.
In looking at my application status the listing is “considering”..
Based on the previous note I take this to mean that I have met the basic qualifications for the job? In this category does that mean that I am being considered and to await a call as to whether an interview will be forthcoming?
Next, as part of the application process the submission of a resume is required and I have done this as well. Unfortunately a resume is restricted due to its length. Is there any means to further elaborate on one’s talents in order to insure that the Recruiter is fully aware of the qualifications a person may have for the job?.
Hi Mark,
When the application status lists “considering,” that means that the hiring manager is reviewing your application and all other qualified applications to identify who they would like to interview or phone screen. My advice is to check this status daily for any updates.
Since you’ve already submitted your application, there isn’t any other way to update the information at this point. My advice for the future is to tailor your resume for the required and preferred qualifications of the job and eliminate anything that may be extraneous to the position. I suggest you prepare some speaking points around the items you weren’t able to include on the resume and application so you’re able to speak to them during an interview or phone screen.
Good luck to you!
Marcy
Hello,
I recently interviewed for warehouse position in the produce department in Lakeland, FL. I interviewed with Brian Halsey and felt like the interview went very well. The interview took place almost three weeks ago and I have not heard anything. I was just wondering how long it may take before I hear an answer? Thank you for your help the blog is full of great information!
Hi Mark,
I know it can be frustrating to wait for the outcome of the screening process, but it is great that you were invited to interview! Hiring managers often receive hundreds of applications to review for an opening. It takes time to carefully review everyone’s qualifications. You will be called if you are considered one of the leading candidates. If not, your status will indicate when the position has been filled.
Hello I was just interviewed 7/29/15, and was wondering how exactly it is that I can view the status of my application?,I was interviewed by Mike Stone and it seemed the interview went fantastic and was told I’d hear something in the next few days.
That’s great! It is hard to say and depends on a number of factors. The Hiring Manager is your best source for determining this. You should give it the few days Mike Stone mentioned. Best of luck!
Helloe, my name is Dustin and I currently work at the lakeland warehouse. I do PM selecting, I am trying to move within our company to an AM shift. I have applied on line. My question is when I login to look under application status one of the jobs says “offer process” and the other says “under consideration” I am thrown off what offer process means and why that status has not changed. When I call to see if the job has been filled, I’m told it’s still open. Please help me understand what the status means thank you.
It is a good thing, Dustin! (And thank you for your contributions to our company’s success, by the way!) It means you meet the required qualifications. It can take more than a month for hiring managers to sift through candidates to determine which move on to the next phase of the hiring process. You will be contacted if you are among those chosen to move forward. Fingers crossed!
Hi Patti … recently apply for a position (167BR, Worker B, overnight, Bakery – Lakeland) have taken the assessment test 03-Feb-2016. and have been considered. I check my emails every day, but I have no answer. Are there any other steps I need to take or communicate with someone who can help me. Thank you Hector Cintron
That’s great to hear you’ve applied and moved into the assessment stage. It can take several weeks for hiring managers to review all qualified applicants. You’ll be notified if you are among those considered most qualified for the position, Hector.
Thank you… Maura Satchell
It’s my pleasure, Hector.
Hi good morning Maura Satchell. I have concerns about my application is UnderConsideration FEB-03 and next week will be 2 months and I have not received a reply, do not know if there is an error in the application, but if the Publix website does not show me any error. I would love the opportunity to work for such a great organization.THANK YOU
Hi, if you’d like to have me look into this, Hector, please email me at maura.publixcareers@publix.com and include your full name and the position you applied for. I’ll see what I can find out.
Thank you Maura Satchell for you help.
