In January, Aprons Simple Meals challenged Publix customers to participate in the Share Your Creation Recipe Contest. To compete, they were asked to submit their very own delicious chicken recipes using no more than 12 ingredients and 45 minutes preparation time.
More than 2,400 cooks submitted their favorites, and 11 recipes were tasted and tested by Aprons staff. To determine the grand prize winner and runner-up, the top five recipes were posted online for voting. Taking home the $5,000 grand prize for her Peachy Ranchero Chicken with Sweet Chili-Lime Cornbread recipe was Naylet LaRochelle.
“I love this recipe that I made because I know what Publix stands for,” said Naylet in an interview with NBC’s Kelly Blanco during a Fabulous Food segment. “They’re really passionate about their customers; they’re really passionate about their food and the quality of their food, and this recipe contest did just that.”
To help celebrate the winning recipes, Aprons hosted a special event in April that gave customers a chance to sample the top dish and take home a brochure with all the winning chicken recipes. Judging from the feedback, Publix customers enjoyed the recipe as much as the Aprons taste testers did.
“Made this for dinner last night. W-O-W. … My grandson is a very picky eater and he went back for seconds,” said Publix Facebook fan Jamie Renner, who tried the recipe at home.
