Happy New Year! We’re excited to kick off 2017 with you. We know this can be a hectic time. Between organizing after the holiday season and trying to keep your resolutions in check, you have a lot on your mind and it’s easy to overlook some things. Not to worry, our pharmacists put together four simple pharmacy-related reminders for you to get your year started right!

Insurance Cards

Many insurance companies issue new patient cards at the beginning of the year. Elizabeth Cruz, our manager of integrated care, recommends you bring an updated card to your local Publix Pharmacy at your earliest convenience. This will allow us to update any medical plan, group number, or other insurance information that has changed. The sooner you get your card to us to update, the more seamless your next  prescription pick up will be.

Shots

“It’s not too late to get your flu shot,” says Kimberly Bone, one of our clinical pharmacists. Although October is known as the beginning of flu season, the Center For Disease Control and Prevention explains it can last as late as May. If 01_18_post1_ CH_ PharmacyReminders_ Image 1 bodyNew Year’s Day has come and gone and you still haven’t gotten your shot, simply stop by any Publix Pharmacy (no appointment necessary) and we will have you in and out as quickly as possible!

Speaking of shots, if it’s time for you to update others, such as shingles or hepatitis b, simply talk to your local pharmacist about availability and we can administer those as well!

Keep in mind that state, age, or health restrictions may apply. See pharmacy for details.

Catalina H. became a Publix associate in 2012 and has thought of it as a home away from home ever since. When choosing what to write about, she thinks about her own life and what she wants to know more about – that way she can learn something new, too! Although her favorite Publix brand product is the Bakery Carrot Cake, you’ll probably find her snacking on peppers and drinking lots of water when writing her blogs. Outside of work, Catalina enjoys fitness, reading, crafting, and exploring new things (do you see a theme here?).
