Did you know owning a waffle iron opens a whole world of culinary possibilities? Waffle irons aren’t limited to just waffles. Did you know you can make scrumptious cinnamon rolls, brownies, falafels and so much more right inside your iron? Here are five recipes that will make waffle irons your new favorite tool in the kitchen!

Cinnamon Rolls

This was the first recipe we thought of and just rolled with it from there. Make sure to place the cinnamon roll dough toward the middle of the iron before putting down the lid to cook. This will ensure they don’t spill over the edge. After your rolls are done, drizzle them with the icing included in the cinnamon roll package.

Brownie and Whipped Cream

Who would have thought that you could make brownies in your handy dandy waffle iron? Whip up your go-to brownie recipe and scoop half a cup of batter directly into the center of the iron. After it reaches your desired readiness, pull it out and top with your favorite toppings. We garnished ours with whipped cream and strawberries on top to make this chocolate masterpiece extra heavenly.

Mac and Cheese

If you’re looking to mix up your macaroni and cheese recipe, look no further than throwing it into your waffle iron. This will create the perfect little mac and cheese patty! After you’ve made your boxed macaroni and cheese, scoop half a cup of the delicious meal into the center of your waffle iron and close the lid. To keep the mess to a minimum, make sure to not over scoop. It should be grilled to perfection within a few minutes. To take the recipe even further, try topping it with some shredded cheese after it’s made.

Falafel Waffles

This recipe was chosen partly because of how fun it is to say falafel waffle and because it’s easy to make! If you’ve never had falafel before, it’s a delicious meal made with chickpeas and seasoned with spices like garlic and coriander. After you’ve mixed your falafel recipe, add a scoop to the center of your waffle maker. They should be golden brown and crispy within a few minutes. You can top your falafel waffles with your favorite toppings, but we kept ours simple with some hummus from our Deli, tomatoes and cucumber.

Classic Waffles and Fruit

We don’t know if this is technically cheating, but it would be wrong not to include this! We made a standard waffle in our waffle iron, but topped it with delicious fresh fruit to create a tropical waffle perfect for any summer morning. All we can say is that you need to try this combo pronto.

Pro tip! No matter what kind of recipe you choose to make, use some cooking spray on your iron for easy removal of your tasty treat. The cook time is going to differ by waffle iron used, but we’d recommend cooking like you would normally cook a waffle and keep tabs on the deliciousness inside as you’re cooking.
