Shake It Up
Extra delicious milkshakes start with extra delicious ice cream. That’s where our Publix Premium ice cream comes in! The rich flavors are so creamy and tasty that most of the work is done for you. Here’s a classic recipe for making a milkshake that’s never let us down:
3 scoops of ice cream + 1/4 cup milk = a wonderfully thick shake!
That recipe combined with these tips will give you your new favorite homemade milkshake!
- Place your glass in the freezer for a minimum of 30 minutes to get a nice chill.
- Before scooping your ice cream into the blender, let it sit out for a few minutes. You want it soft, but not runny. This step will help create a thick milkshake.
- Don’t add ice when making your shake, as this will make it watery.
- To boost the flavor, add mix-ins to your shake! For instance, add fresh strawberry slices to your strawberry shake or crumbled chocolate creme cookies to a cookies and cream shake. If you don’t want fully blended pieces, don’t add them until you’ve blended the ice cream and milk.
- Turn your blender on to the lowest speed first, then slowly add the milk.
- After all the milk has been added, stop, stir and check the thickness of the blend. Too much blending will thin out the shake.
- Bonus tip: Don’t skimp out on the whipped cream topping! Garnish your shakes with things like fresh strawberries, chocolate chips, cookies and sprinkles. Add anything you want to use that complements your milkshake.
