Spiders, pumpkins and monsters – oh my! Halloween is the perfect opportunity to get creative in the kitchen. We have all the recipes you need to make themed dishes to get the evening started before the candy comes out. Whether you choose one dish to make as an appetizer, or mix and match to create a Halloween feast, the whole family will love these festive, frightful foods!
Spiders
They’re creepy! They’re crawly! They’re … delicious? These spider snacks certainly are.
- Hot dog spiders – Hot dogs make the perfect spider legs. Who would’ve thought? Wrap your sliced hot dogs in crescent roll dough and bake per crescent roll instructions. Once cooled, add eyes of your choice; ketchup and black sesame seeds are good options.
- Spiderweb soup – Use plain yogurt or sour cream to top your favorite creamy soups with a web design. Serve in a small pumpkin for a unique treat.
- Spider bread bowl – Publix Bakery Multigrain Bread makes the perfect bowl for your spider to grow. Fill the bread with your favorite deli dip; we recommend Publix Deli Artichoke and Spinach Dip. Finish off your creation by using sliced veggies for eyes and legs.
Pumpkins
Pumpkin is a classic fall flavor, but these pumpkins don’t taste like pumpkins at all!
- Jack-o’-lantern sweet potatoes – Sliced, roasted sweet potatoes make ideal vessels for miniature pumpkin faces! Just peel, slice and carve using a small, sharp knife and your imagination to bring these sweet potato jack-o’-lanterns to life.
- Pumpkin cheese ball – Your favorite cheese ball recipe just got an upgrade for Halloween. Just coat your cheese ball in crushed cheesy crackers and top with a pepper or pumpkin stem.
- Jack-o’-lantern stuffed peppers – Show off your carving skills on orange bell peppers and stuff them with a filling of your choice. Macaroni and cheese, ground beef with vegetables or your favorite Publix deli dip are great filling options.
Monsters
Add monsters to your feast for a frightful delight!
- Mozzarella stick witch fingers – Add pumpkin seeds to the tops of mozzarella sticks to instantly transform them into witch fingers. Serve with marinara sauce.
- Mummy jalapeño poppers – Jalapeño poppers are already a tasty snack. Wrap them in strips of pastry before baking to take them to the next level! Finish the poppers off with eyes for a mummified masterpiece.
- Mini monster sliders – Turn your sliders into mini monsters by using toppings to create eyes, noses and tongues. Watch your monsters come alive!
Now that you have ideas to put together a Halloween feast, all that’s missing is sweets! Candy is great, but these Halloween treats are even better. Which will you re-create?
