In honor of mothers all around the world, May 14th is dedicated entirely to celebrating and thanking moms for all they have done and continue to do. After all, moms were there for all the challenging times ― like dirty diapers, toddler meltdowns, and the potty training blues ― and  they still showered  you with love. Show the mom in your life you appreciate her years of hard work by recognizing her awesomeness.

There are thousands of gifts you can give mom, but this year skip the wrapping paper and do something more personal instead!

Whip up a Dazzling Dish

Think of all the meals your mom has cooked for you over the years ― there are probably thousands, right? Why not return the favor by cooking up her favorite meal? Surprise her with breakfast in bed, or recruit help from the rest of your family to create a meal that all generations of moms in your family will love. Toast to mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers alike who have been there to fill your belly over the years. And don’t leave them to do the dishes, either! This is their hands-off meal.

Brighten Her Smile with Flowers

Flowers are a beautiful way to show mom your love. Why not take her to a local botanical garden or park? Not only will she be able to relax and enjoy the scenery, but more importantly, you will have lots of quality time together. Extend your time together by packing a lunch or planning an activity to do while you’re there!

If you’re truly strapped for time, pick up a floral bouquet or arrange a bundle of Chrysanthemums with a thoughtful note, thanking her for being an incredible “mum!”

Give Her a Free Day

Whether you’re a son, daughter, husband, or friend celebrating a mother figure in your life, taking over responsibilities for a day might be one of the best gifts you could offer. Spoil her by taking care of the lingering household chores, washing her car, vacuuming the house, making meals for the family, or being a cross-town chauffer (these will even help Dad!). Everyone loves a little “me-time,” especially moms. Give yours a little R&R and do all the chores for her!

Spoil Her with an At-Home Spa Day

The sole purpose of a spa day is to find relaxation in our busy lives. Treat Mom with a head-to-toe spa day, which will leave her refreshed and happy. All you’ll need are a few pampering items to offer the tranquil feel of an expensive day spa. With do-it-yourself sites such as Pinterest, you will find many recipes for bath salts, scrubs, and even face masks that can easily be made at home. Turn on some soothing music to melt away her stress this Mother’s Day!

The celebration doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated to make it a day she’ll never forget! No matter what efforts you put forth to show your love, your mom is sure to appreciate it.

How are you recognizing those important women in your life this week?
