DIY Coffee Filter Turkey

Add a bit of DIY decor to your Thanksgiving table this year with these festive coffee filter turkeys that are fun for the whole family to make. You can find most of the items needed to craft these turkeys in the grocery section of your local Publix. Here’s how to make this adorable and easy craft.

 What You Need

  • Wood clothespins
  • Round coffee filters
  • Washable markers
  • Water spray bottle
  • Brown paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Liquid glue
  • Scissors
  • Candy eyes
  • Red and yellow construction paper

 How to Make It

  1. Cover your work surface with a plastic sheet or extra paper.
  2. Select a few coffee filters and flatten them by placing a heavy book on top for a few minutes.
  3. Use the washable markers to color the coffee filters, filling the available space.
  4. Spritz the coffee filters with the water spray bottle.
  5. Watch the colors on the coffee filters start to blend as the water spreads. Add more water as needed until you have your desired look.
  6. Set the coffee filters aside to dry.
  7. Paint clothespins brown and allow to dry.
  8. Use scissors to cut a triangle (for beaks) in the yellow construction paper and small teardrop shapes (for wattles) in the red construction paper.
  9. Glue two eyes onto the clothespin at the end that opens.
  10. Glue a yellow beak and red wattles onto the clothespin under the eyes.
  11. Fold the dry coffee filters in half and clamp each filter in the center of the folded side with a clothespin to bring those feathers to life and complete your cute DIY.
