At Publix, it’s important for us to be there for the communities we serve, and we know one of the greatest challenges for many of those in our communities is food insecurity. That’s why, each year, we partner with organizations and programs across our operating areas to raise money toward the fight against hunger.
Did you know you can help raise money for those in need in your community by purchasing certain produce items at your local Publix? Through our partnership with Produce for Kids, customers can help support the needs of local charities and Feeding America food banks by purchasing participating brands in our produce department during biannual in-store campaigns.
What is Produce for Kids?
Produce for Kids is a program created by the Healthy Family Project, an organization founded in 2002 by Shuman Farms, a family-owned Publix supplier that has grown onions in southeast Georgia for more than 30 years. Produce for Kids aims to create a healthier generation through inspiring new ideas and eating habits while supporting those in need. How Publix Helps
Publix has collaborated with Produce for Kids, our suppliers, local charities and Feeding America food banks to raise money for those in need since 2002. This partnership has raised more than $3.4 million to benefit local charities and has donated more than 5.7 million meals to Feeding America member food banks in our seven-state operating area.
How You Can Help
During our Fall 2021 campaign, from Sept. 23 – Oct. 28, you can support this initiative by purchasing items from the partner brands listed here.
Our teams will place signage next to these products so it’s easier for customers to identify them as Produce for Kids partners. A portion of the proceeds of every item purchased will be donated to charities and food banks located in your community.
