The Story
A lifelong Publix customer, Jennifer reached out to us through our Contact Us page and told us the most wonderful story about an associate, Tammy. Jennifer’s daughter, Josie, recently went away for her freshman year of college at Florida Gulf Coast University. With it being her daughter’s first birthday away from home, Jennifer reached out to the Publix nearest to Josie’s school to see if she could order her a cake and card over the phone for her birthday.
Tammy answered the call and couldn’t have been happier to help assist. Jennifer and Tammy ended up speaking on the phone for 30 minutes about Josie’s birthday. “Tammy was so sweet and nice. She had an answer for every question I had.” After speaking with Tammy, Jennifer spoke with her daughter’s friend at school, who told her that Tammy is their favorite person at their Publix store.
Josie’s friend told Tammy that for every student she befriends, she sings them happy birthday and makes them feel at home away from home. All the local parents call her store and ask to purchase food for their kids and Tammy will deliver it to their dorms. She’ll text and send pictures to the parents to give them an update about how they’re children are doing while on campus.
