Blog series title, Women in Leadership, on dark green surface with Publix logo at bottom right corner

At Publix, we value our associates and are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace to better serve our customers and communities. Female leaders are a large part of our workforce. Did you know Publix was recently recognized as one of Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Women and Forbes’ Best Employers for Women? We are proud of these accomplishments and the paths our female leaders are paving for future leaders each day.

In our Women in Leadership blog series, we highlight female leaders across the company. Learn more as our associates share their Publix career stories with us, including their work philosophy that helped them become women in leadership. Today, we hear from a Publix Pharmacy supervisor in our Atlanta area.

Meet Lindsay

Pharmacy Supervisor Lindsay in front of Publix storefront

Lindsay grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which had no Publix at the time. She became familiar with the company from vacationing in Florida. It was her favorite place to shop during her trips!

“While attending pharmacy school in Atlanta, I became very familiar with Publix and its outstanding reputation,” Lindsay said. “This not only included the value placed on superior customer service but, more importantly, the way Publix valued their associates.”

Those core values drove Lindsay to pursue a career with the Publix Pharmacy. In 2008, she joined the team as a graduate pharmacy intern. After receiving her license, Lindsay moved into a floating pharmacist role that laid the groundwork for her leadership career with Publix. Shortly after joining the team, Lindsay was promoted to assistant pharmacy manager and later to pharmacy manager in 2010. Today, she is a pharmacy supervisor in our Atlanta area.

“In my current role, I am responsible for supporting 41 pharmacies in northeast Georgia,” she shared. “The thing I enjoy most about working for Publix is the people. Publix truly has some of the best people working for this company. I sincerely enjoy getting to interact with my fellow associates daily!”

Being a Woman in Leadership

Overseeing 41 pharmacies is a big task. Lindsay has found success leading her pharmacies by being available, approachable and flexible when needed.

“I listen to the needs of my team and work to meet those needs,” she said. “I work every day to empower and challenge my managers to lead their teams to strive for the best. My goal is that they gain confidence in their role as it contributes to Publix’s success.”

Lindsay continues to grow and develop as a leader by working closely with her team and stepping outside of her comfort zone. She collaborates with her colleagues to gain insight into their strategies to share with her team, so everyone is successful.

“I use feedback from my leaders to further grow and develop in my role, as well,” she shared. “I have been fortunate to work with many leaders in my department who have helped expose me to additional opportunities to grow.”

Leadership was always on Lindsay’s radar. Throughout her career, she consistently worked hard to communicate effectively and earn the respect of any team she led.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a devoted team of Publix owners,” she shared. “I enjoy being able to motivate and coach my team to drive successful results. Publix has provided me with excellent women leaders as role models throughout my career, each of which helped encourage me and shape my style.”

Lindsay advises anyone interested in a career with Publix to simply begin. As our founder, Mr. George, once said, “Begin. The rest is easy.”

“When you work at Publix, you are a valued owner of the company. The opportunities for career advancement are unlike (those at) any other company. If you are willing to put in the work, the sky is the limit.”
